One Clear Why

  • Course
  • 6 Lessons

Find the real reason you get out of bed, then learn to use it everywhere in your life.

Most mornings you already know what tasks you have to do for the day. The harder part is knowing why you're doing them, and I mean the real reason, the one that keeps you going when things get tough.

Why most purpose advice fails

Most advice about purpose asks you to manufacture a reason and picture your best life. That works fine when things are already going well, but it falls apart when life starts to fall apart. That's where a steady reason earns its keep.

If you've been running on momentum and starting to wonder what you're actually running toward, this is for you.

How It Works

This course works by subtraction. You'll get honest about what things you can and can't carry, whose expectations you've been living under, and what actually matters enough to keep around in your life. Each of the six lessons is a short video with a written companion to work through at your own pace, and one small action to put it into practice that day. You can finish the whole thing in a week.

What you walk away with

By the end you'll have one clear "why" to stop wasting time on things that don't matter to you, written down in a single sentence that is specific, true, and uniquely yours, and steady on both the good days and the bad ones.

The details

Each lesson runs about 20-30 minutes, video and writing included.
Done over a week, that's less than an hour every other day.

You keep access to the course once you're in. No expiration.

Start this week and you can have your single sentence by the weekend.
That's the whole structure.

"I had a why before I started, but this helped me add more depth and meaning to it all while making it simpler. The last lesson was something I really needed to hear in the moment."

"The One Clear Why is great because it's hard. The difficulty is that it forces us to look in the mirror and evaluate what we're living for. The benefit is in the actual evaluation — why am I here, what am I trying to do. If we can't evaluate things beyond ourselves, we just walk day-to-day blindly. That's the benefit I got from it."

About

Ryan Hurst

I spent 30 years training in martial arts. From traditional Japanese styles to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and everything in between. I thought that training had prepared me for anything.

Then life tested that assumption.

In October 2022, I moved my family from Japan to the United States with no plan, no network, and no clear path forward. Everything I thought I knew about resilience got put to the test.

Physical practices build more than strength. They build clarity, they create structure when everything else is chaos, and they give you something to do when you don't know what to do.

I still train, I still practice these exercises, and I still ask myself these questions.

Because you're never done.
